Foundation Is IN!!!

As soon as the plastic got laid down, and the slab insulation got put in, Skye and I spent a couple of hours laying down the PEX for the radiant floor heat. Before the concrete guys got there I had laid out all insulation so putting it in was like a tetris by numbers. I also totally geeked out and drew the layout of the PEX on the insulation so we had a guide for the laydown. It made it super fast. I was worried about running out of PEX, but we had a few feet to spare.

Then after a week of rain, Bob and his team came in and finished pouring! Now we have a foundation! Its pretty sweet!

Skye sponsored a NEMBA film event in Burlington and we brought some famous Maple Mate to stoke out the crowd. We are totally addicted now to Yerba Mate sweetened with Maple Syrup.

Weekend Work at the cabin

This weekend mom & dad came up and dad was on a mission to spread some manure! Here he is rockin' it on the John Deere. We got the aged manure from a farmer down the street who hays our field in the summer for his cows. So its full circle...they eat our hay and we add their crap back to the land! yum yum!

I tackled the tarring of the foundation for waterproofing. Wow this stuff was sticky! I can't even imagine getting tarred and feathered...that would really suck!

Foundation has started

Ground Breaking began monday and by friday the foundation walls were poured! Unbelievable how quickly it all happened. Now you can see the outline of the future cabin. The long wall will be bumped out 12 feet and be a regular wall height. Then the roof will come off and a new roof will be put on and be much higher....we will probably gain a loft inside. The sunroom will be where the front door and chimney are & have a poured slab floor. Its fun to see the outline!
